Saturday Brunch Club

Saturday’s always a busy day. Hopefully fun busy, but things have still got to get done and they don’t do themselves, so however much fun you’re having, you’re pushed for time.

And you’ve still got to eat, and it’s still supposed to be your day off, so you won’t want to spend hours putting a meal together. Which is what this page is about.

Good food doesn’t have to be fussy. It does have to fit the way we live. It has to be good for you or at least not bad for you. And it does have to be packed full of taste and as kind to the animals involved as possible.

Can’t be done in a hurry, can it?

Of course it can. Any Saturday, between 9am and 11am, come and have brunch with us.

Saturdays, 9am to 10:30am

Scrambled eggs (yes of course they are) & smoked salmon

OR

The Yoxford Breakfast

(bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, toast, scrambled eggs)

OR

Mushrooms (nice ones) & poached egg on toast

WITH

Tea or Coffee or local Suffolk Apple Juice

AND

A selection of newspapers to read and fulminate over at the tables

PLUS

The YoFoCo topical news review.

All for a thrifty £6.50 per person.

Every egg we sell is local, from a small flock and free range. They are not from our own chickens because our seven hens are almost totally wild and we never find their eggs because they hide them.

The bacon is local smoked back bacon from a butchery five miles away that we have used for years because we trust them.

The mushrooms are big, fat, horse mushrooms, not the silly little button mushrooms that don’t taste of anything. I don’t think they really are called horse mushrooms, but you used to find them in fields where there were horses. (Serving suggestion only. Horses not included.)

The bread is local-ish, and full of grains.

You’ll like it. People do.
